Alternative Breast Cancer Screening for Natural Health
Alternative Breast Cancer Screening Test for Natural Health
Continuing on the topic of breast cancer prevention for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, women should be aware of common breast cancer medical procedures and the healthier alternatives to these practices.
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) recommends for women age 40 or older to get a mammogram every 1-2 years. Mammograms are an x-ray of the breast used to check for breast cancer. It is important to know that procedures such as CT scans and x-rays come with a high dose of radiation, which is also a breast cancer risk factor! These operations expose you to ionizing radiation which is the longest known environmental cause of breast cancer in both men and women. Several recent studies have clearly shown that breast cancer screening may be causing women more harm than good. The amount of radiation from one x-ray can amount to the same amount of radiation you get from 1,000 chest x-rays and can contribute to mutations that lead to breast cancer. According to Dr Samuel Epstein, “The premenopausal breast is highly sensitive to radiation, each 1 rad exposure increasing breast cancer risk by about 1 percent, with a cumulative 10 percent increased risk for each breast over a decade’s screening.” Additionally, the compression from mammogram screenings squeezes the breasts with so much pressure that it can cause cancerous cells to spread if there were some in the breast tissue.
Other diagnostic procedures, such as biopsies of tissue from the breast, performed to determine if cancer is present can also be harmful as it may lead to inaccurate diagnosis and unneeded treatments. Misdiagnosis alone can lead to a myriad of other illnesses in the body caused by emotional responses such as fear and stress.
Fortunately, there are a variety of measures you can take to prevent the disease along with alternative health screening options to detect breast cancer. Your immune system is your number one defender against disease so it is important to keep it healthy. (check out our recent blog on keeping your body healthy to prevent breast cancer by clicking here). For alternative health screening options, self-examinations are a proper measure in early detection. Refer to the following diagrams as a guide on how to properly perform a self examination and for the type of symptoms to be aware of.
Also, look into thermal imaging in lieu of a mammogram. Thermography screening is an imaging tool that provides the earliest possible detection by capturing the metabolic energy created by the processes supporting the growing cancer colony throughout the years. This technology uses digital infrared thermal imaging to take a picture and creates a map of the infrared patterns of the body. It is different than other screening tools because it helps to see function (physiology); whereas MRI and X-rays detect anatomical changes and will miss such things as active inflammation or angiogenesis (increased blood supply as found in cancer). Thermography has been approved by the FDA for breast cancer screening in 1982. It can detect early danger signs in the body years before other tools and has been shown to be effective in finding early signs of breast cancer up to 8 years before the mammogram! In conclusion, many factors contribute to the onset of disease such as breast cancer. It is important to be aware of these influences and take the necessary preventative measures to reduce your risk and nurture your body for optimal health.
